As a Community Living Program Counselor, you will teach valuable skills to people with developmental disabilities living in their own homes. You will advocate for the improvement in the quality of life for people with I/DD and/or co-occurring diagnoses using a person-centered care philosophy.

In compliance with CDPH order from 9/28/2021, Lifehouse requires proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Accommodations based on medical and religious exemptions will be considered.

What you will be doing:

• Encourage growth and teach independent living skills, such as cooking healthy meals, household tasks, grocery and necessity shopping, money management, health and personal hygiene and public transportation.
• Ensure the highest level of independence for the people you support by assisting in day to day tasks.
• Support community integration and development of social skills through recreational activities.
• Assist, train and monitor medication and accompany the people you support to medical appointments.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and third-party agencies.
• Update, monitor and document individual’s progress towards goals outlined in the Individual Service Plan.
• Teach and assist individuals to navigate public authority programs including Social Security, Calfresh, Medi-Cal/Medicaid/Medicare, Public Housing Authority and Cal-Able.
• Attend and participate in team meetings with individuals supported, families and other agencies providing services.
• Plan, organize and supervise vocational, volunteer and recreational activities.

What you will bring:

• Friendly, helpful attitude, willing to go the extra mile.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities -- or other experience if you find that it would be helpful for this position.
• CA driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass LiveScan fingerprint clearance.
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
• A positive outlook and the urge to make a difference.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
