This is an entry level position for someone who is compassionate, willing to learn how to help people with serious mental illness, has good interpersonal communication skills, has good problem solving skills, life skills, and a desire to help a population that needs substantial assistance.

True Mental Health Services, Inc. provides case management community support for clients diagnosed with serious mental illness. Case managers provide client support and education 40 hours a week, with a high volume of direct client contact hours. Case managers travel to our clients' houses, day programs, doctor appointments, and homeless shelters to provide services in our clients' environments. Our training program provides the tools our employees need to identify client needs and approaches to best assist clients address their individual needs.

Candidates should be comfortable working independently in the community, as well as within a team structure, to provide services one-on-one in the community with our clients. Candidate should have strong problem solving skills, strong communication skills, ability to teach new skills, willingness to advocate for clients in the community when needed, and a general concern for the well-being of people experiencing multiple barriers associated with general life and serious mental illness.

Job Duties
Participate in a daily team meeting each morning
Travel to 5-6 client locations in the Dallas area daily to work with clients in community
90% of duties are completed independently in the field with clients
Ongoing assessments and planning for client mental health needs and education
Educate clients about symptoms, coping strategies, and problem solving skills
Assist clients complete doctor appointments and discharge from hospital as needed
Assist clients access medications from pharmacy and educate about the benefits of medication adherence
Provide on-call services (after hours telephone support) on a rotating basis
Daily documentation in client files for services provided for the day

Minimum Skills / Resources Required
Bachelors Degree or higher in psychology, social work, sociology, educational psychology, or rehab counseling
Good listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work within a team, as well as work independently
Functional knowledge of computer programs (Word, Excel, Web based programs)
Good driving record with at least 3 years of driving history
Bilingual in English and Spanish not required, but beneficial
