Our broad line of vascular devices–which includes vessel closure, endovascular and coronary technologies–are used to treat vessel diseases of the heart, carotid arteries and peripheral blood vessels. These vessel diseases can lead to heart attack, stroke, critical limb ischemia and other serious vascular conditions.

Purpose Statement

The successful candidate will provide technical support to the Component Engineering organisation, supporting capacity, cost and quality initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Include

1. Supports incoming inspection and specifications of components used in the manufacture of Abbott products.
2. Supports qualification of new component supply sources, component design changes and quality improvements.
3. Supports commodities over lifecycle including product, process, quality and cost improvement initiatives, supplier and material changes.
4. Works with receiving inspection to improve inspection processes where applicable.
5. Troubleshoot component issues in conjunction with engineering team and/or supplier.
6. May participate in validation activity. Role may vary between providing input to owning activities such as protocol/report writing and executing validation activities.
7. Interacts cross-functionally with internal and external customers and suppliers.
8. Concurrent support of multiple projects.
9. May participate in teams to conduct business risk assessment and support action plans to reduce or eliminate risks.


Education & Job Skills

1. (Experience/Education) National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline. 2+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
2. (Technical/Business Knowledge (Job Skills)) Working technical knowledge and application of principles, practices and procedures within the field of component manufacturing and/or testing. General understanding of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/relationships.
3. (Cognitive Skills) Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
4. (Influence/Leadership) Develops a network of internal resources to facilitate completion of tasks. Influence exerted at peer level.
5. (Planning/Organisation) Plans & organises own daily work routine to meet established schedule with guidance from supervisor on prioritisation of tasks.
6. (Decision Making/Impact) Exercises judgement within defined limits to determine appropriate action. Solves a wide range of problems within established complexity limits, supported by engineering team as required.
7. (Supervision Received) Works under general supervision. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed with soundness of technical judgement, overall adequacy and accuracy.
