Position Overview

Arlo is in search of a Computer and Information Research Scientist to support the IRS Office of Safeguards in providing risk model maintenance support to optimize Safeguards risk-based review selection process by providing expertise to recognize areas of risk model improvement and to plan and implement risk model maintenance and improvements.

Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors

  • Create Risk Support Work Plan to identify, define, and provide deliverable deadlines for all deliverables under the Support Risk-based Selection Process Task. The plan will not be static and will be adjusted during the Monthly Risk Team Meeting.
  • Facilitate quarterly meeting to review and update Risk Support Work Plan.
  • Provide maintenance and operation of data fields via R Suite software that is used to provide analysis of Review Finding data and its relationship to the Risk Model and Health Score outputs.
  • Revise and maintain formulas and macros that provide weighted evaluation of a variety of risk factors as indicated by subsets of data fields.
  • Conduct data aggregation used to determine most "as risk" agency partners. Includes manual evaluation of the automated data to validate "at risk" ranking.
  • Create risk dashboard to identify, track, and communicate agency findings, risk, ranking, and remediation data and overall historical trend analysis.

Education and Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Bachelor’s level degree or higher in any accounting, mathematics, engineering, finance, economics and/or data science discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract or extrapolate knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data and apply knowledge from the data across a broad range of application domains.
  • Experience in utilizing automation and scripting techniques as well as presenting results to management and non-technical personnel for consideration.
  • Specialized experience in Tableau; R Programming.
