The Healthcare Project Manager provides architectural and engineering support in planning, investigating, designing and supervising construction of major and minor construction projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering General required.
• Three years of Construction-Building Renovations experience required.
• Three years of Construction-Healthcare experience required.
• Registered Architect preferred.
• Professional Engineer preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Project Manager will consult with, advise, assist and make recommendations to the hospital on all aspects of planning for the project constructions.
• Will review the architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical and structural plans and specifications as they are being developed and advise and make recommendations with respect to such factors as construction feasibility, possible economics, availability of materials and labor, time requirements for procurement and construction and project costs.
• Will assist in the coordination and distribution of the drawings and specifications.
• Will review plans and specifications to eliminate areas of conflict and overlapping in the work to be performed be the various trades.
• Will coordinate and provide direction of the work and progress of the trades and/or contractors on the project. Will inspect the work as it is being performed until final completion and accepted by the Department Head to assure that the materials furnished and work performed are in accordance with the working drawings and specifications.
• Will be responsible for the establishment of effective programs relating to safety (also OSHA) job site records, trade problems and progress reports.
• Will make recommendations for and process request for changes in the work and maintain records of change orders.
• Will schedule and conduct job meetings to ensure orderly progress of the work.
• Will prepare a budget estimate based on a quality survey of the plans and specifications at the preliminary stage at development.
• Will continue to review and revise the estimates as the developments of the plans and specifications proceed, and will advise the Director if it appears that the budgeted targets will not be met.
• Will prepare a final cost estimate when plans and specifications are complete.
• Will recommend for purchase and expedite the procurement of long-lead items to ensure their delivery by required dates.
• As working drawings are completed, the Project Manager will assist in accepting bids if required. After the bids are received, the Project Manager will assist in analyzing and recommending successful bidders.
• Will assist and review/process the applications for payment by trades, contractors and materials supplies in accordance with the terms of the contract.
• Maintains and continually updates the DFE library of operational, service and parts manuals and planned maintenance procedures for over a thousand items of equipment being maintained by DFE, contractors and others. He/she also provides requested reference to mechanics and engineers.
