ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Catholic Social Services Division of Housing and Homelessness

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare, cook and serve a pleasing, nutritious breakfast and dinner and dessert for approximately 37 elderly residents. Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen, dish room, food serving and dining areas, and food storage areas. Other duties as assigned.

Hours: Wednesday to Saturday:

7:30am to 6:30pm ( negotiable)

SUPERVISED BY: Sister Lisa Breslin, SSJ

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to planned menus and meal schedule.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and order of the kitchen, dish room, dining room, and food storage areas
• Menu planning with supervisor
• Maintaining and restocking food inventory
• Work with volunteer residents who clean and reset the dining room after meals
• Report any needed repairs.

Daily

• Prepare and serve breakfast and dinner according to menu.
• Take food temps before every meal
• Steam table cleaned
• Wash dishes and utensils after meals
• Clean pots and pans
• Sweep and mop kitchen, dish room floors
• Polish stainless steel

Daily Cleaning:

• Floors - sweep and mop kitchen, dish room, steam table area
• Counter tops, table tops
• Dish room and dining area
• Take and record refrigerator temps
• Food temps before every meal
• Stainless steel
• Empty tea pot
• Empty trash
• Lock up kitchen

Weekly Tasks:

• Clean Stove and oven
• Laundry - clean out lint too
• Clean Cabinets-inside and out
• Clean Walls
• Scrub floors - dish room and kitchen
• Cook bacon or sausage for weekend
• Clean refrigerators and freezer
• De lime dishwasher
• Restock
• Clean coffee pot
• Carts
• Trash cans
• Refill: coffee, tea, sugar, sweetener, paper towels, napkins, raisins
• Change peanut butter and jelly containers

Monthly

• Clean range hood
• Basement and kitchen freezers - defrost and clean

• Safe Serve Food Handling and management certification desired but not necessary
