Amcor Flexibles North America (AFNA), a division of Amcor, operates across 35 plants and employs 9,000 colleagues within North America with headquarters in Chicago, IL and Oshkosh, WI. Job Description

About the role
This role is part of a small global team (5) with presence in Chicago, Zurich and Melbourne. The team is responsible for all aspects of top executive compensation including Director compensation, C-suite compensation and their direct reports (top ~150). These executives are located at various locations around the world, so a global perspective is important (Americas = 50%, Europe 34%, Asia Pacific 16%). Amcor has a primary listing on the NYSE, a secondary listing on the ASX (Australian Securities Exchange), has its tax residency in the UK, and is incorporated in Jersey. Navigating market practice, rules and regulations in this context is challenging.
This role would support the team in the US market and would be a key contact point of contact for top executives on all aspects of their compensation. It would also be responsible for share plan management for the broader executive population and focusing on effective participant engagement with equity plans. There are several improvements that are being considered which this role would be responsible for defining and implementing. This role would also be responsible for external governance and reporting – including the company’s annual proxy statement filings. It would also support the VP Remuneration with the operation of Board Compensation Committee meetings.
Key Job Accountabilities
  • Given the diverse and global executive team, issues are varied, and therefore solutions need to be varied. This requires a clear and thorough understanding of the issues at hand, and the insight and willingness to develop and implement somewhat customized solutions.
  • Although responsibility for executive compensation is clearly defined, Amcor is a somewhat decentralized organization and requires the development of relationships and influence within the broader business and with key stakeholders to be effective.
  • The corporate structure and shareholder base means that executive compensation matters need to be carefully thought through and implemented given diverse views on executive compensation. All the while ensuring that executive compensation is market-led and effective in driving desired behaviours and outcomes.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelors degree (Master’s preferred) in business, marketing, economics, engineering, or related field required
  • Has worked in a similar role in a large US-listed industrial organisation
  • Has experience working on multi-country, regional or global matters
  • Can demonstrate strong functional/ technical skills and a deep knowledge of compensation practices and trends in both the US market and globally
  • Has successfully executed projects in a project leadership role
  • Good organising skills
  • Ability to prioritise and ensure those priorities are consistently aligned with the business
  • Global perspective These executives are located at various locations around the world, so a global perspective is important (Americas = 50%, Europe 34%, Asia Pacific 16%)
  • Attention to detail
  • Comfortable dealing with senior leaders
  • Practical/ pragmatic and not too theoretical
  • Willingness to operate at all levels (strategic, but then willing to do admin to get the job done)
