JOB SUMMARY
Provides advice and counsel to internal clients on and executes tasks related to regulatory, compliance, and/or litigation matters. Research and drafts legal documents. Represents ERCOT in judicial, regulatory, and/or legislative matters. Acts as liaison between outside counsel and the organization. Keeps abreast of legislative and regulatory requirements with potential impact to the organization.

Keeps abreast of legislative or regulatory requirements with potential impact to the organization. Responsible for execution of tasks related to corporate governance, transactions, compliance (corporate and regulatory), and litigation.
Delivers legal support and advice to the organization, including legal expertise and representation in regulatory affairs, compliance and corporate governance.
JOB DUTIES
  • Understands the basic principles, theories and concepts related to the profession and learns how to apply them within the ERCOT culture.
  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
  • Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes as directed.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
  • Monitors and tracks PUCT, FERC, NERC, Texas Register, Federal Register and relevant Legislative matters and all applicable other Governmental proceedings
  • Contributes to the writing, editing, and publishing of various reports and filings required by Public Utility Commission of Texas rules
  • Reviews and interprets ERCOT Protocols, Operating Guides, Operating Procedures and other relevant documents for internal departments and groups and external parties
  • Participates in audits and other compliance activities as required by internal controls, ERCOT market rules, or state and federal laws, rules, or standards
  • Participates in the preparation of agendas and materials for Board of Directors and Board committee meetings, including recording minutes of all meetings
  • Participates in preparation of Public Utility Commission of Texas filings related to approval of Unaffiliated Directors, Bylaws, and other corporate governance matters
  • Review and investigate background facts and information for lawsuits and ethics-related matters
  • Performs research in connection with Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADRs), and prepares Position Papers for ADRs
EXPERIENCE
  • No minimum work experience required
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree : Any discipline (Required)
  • PhD : Juris doctorate from accredited law school (Required)
  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
CERTIFICATION
  • Admitted to practice before the State Bar of Texas (Required)
WORK LOCATION
  • Must be on-site at the Taylor or Austin facilities at least once a month, or more, based on business needs and as determined by the Manager
  • Work arrangements are subject to business needs and subject to change
