About The Opportunity
The Regional PR & Communications Manager will lead the strategic development and hands on execution Corporate PR strategy with the goal of positioning the company, its corporate brands and executives in top-tier domestic media outlets in the USA . You will be leveraging your experience in media relations, public relations and senior stakeholder engagement to build, drive and deliver media and communication strategies and corporate marketing programs across the region. This is a pivotal role where you will lead the direction, having a direct contribution to, and impact on the achievement of our business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the region development, customization and execution of comprehensive communications strategies and programs that appropriately position each of our Corporate FCTG Brands as leaders in their segment.
- Improve Corporate FCTG’s Brand and Leaders profile positively through media and communications.
- Coordinating & delivering the agreed region program of PR - proactive & reactive as well as having a hands-on approach to internal comms required by the respective brands.
- Execute an agreed, relevant, timely efficient and streamlined communications and PR while always protecting brands reputation
- Collaborate with PR colleagues in other regions, sharing media & communication strategies and best practices.
- Drive cohesion across PR & communication, ensuring that plan and activities reflects global and regional objectives.
- Support Global Internal Brand Communications Manager on UK&I initiatives and events. Contribute to strategy and communication plan to support the elevation of the overall engagement within the organization.
- Drive strong internal engagement and understanding in the business for key messages, roll-outs and launches.
- Annual PR Strategy. Develop a full-year region-specific PR strategy & activity plan for FCTG Corporate Brands in collaboration with Regional Brand Marketing and Operations that reflects business objectives. Devise accompanying regional narrative to engage with key prospects and customers that elevates our brands and promotes the industry and benefits of TMC’s.
- Local PR Activation. Execute PR activities, initiatives and events to engage with key stakeholders in USA . Create news-worthy stories that capitalize on trending topics, while pitching latest developments and securing commentary opportunities for business leaders. Work with Corporate Brand Marketing teams to ensure that all PR activity appropriately positions each of our Corporate FCTG Brands as leaders in their segment.
- Press Office. Act as the main point of contact for USA media. Respond quickly and accurately to day-to-day journalist enquiries escalating with senior leadership as appropriate.
- Media Relations. Cultivate strong relationships with top-tier USA travel/trade, news, business and consumer media and their contributors. Secure regular briefings to ensure that FCTG’s Corporate Brands remain top of mind. Proactively pitch original story angles and latest company news alongside local developments and initiatives. Maintain and develop a database of key USA media contacts. Work closely with Regional FCM and CT Brand Managers to advise and guide limited outreach in other markets.
- Social Media. Work with the FCM and CT Brand Managers and the Content Team to create and execute digital and social media strategies as a mechanism to tell the FCTG Corporate Brands story and deliver compelling content to the marketplace. Work in partnership with the Content team to use social media channels to engage with USA based journalists (e.g. monitor blogs/Twitter feeds of top-tier media for feature story opportunities and pitch media online when relevant).
- Crisis Communications. Support the USA Leadership teams on issues affecting the company. Develop speed to market & crisis communication response - gather facts, create reactive media statements and FAQs while keeping global leaders informed. Field and respond to incoming media requests to positively position FCTG Corporate Brands.
- PR Agency Management. Manage PR agency (if applicable) on a day-by-day basis.
- Press and Briefing Materials. Oversee development, approvals and updating of press kit materials, including press releases, fact sheets, bios, backgrounders, etc. for USA. Prepare briefing materials and messaging/positioning documents for executives in preparation for media interviews.
- PR Measurement & Evaluation. Measure results and impact of PR outreach in alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs) and leverage media monitoring & measurement tool. Focus on top-tier media and feature story press coverage in domestic market. Contribute to Global PR reports and keep regional brand and operational teams updated of resulting coverage.
- Internal Communications & Engagement: Work with relevant colleagues to organize major USA internal events, including but not limited to; town-hall meetings, and annual kick-off meetings. Help to keep colleagues informed and engaged by celebrating achievements and sharing details of relevant key regional news and initiatives (through Global Internal Brand Communications Manager).
- Americas Region: Work closely with and provide instruction for PR leaders in other regions within the Americas.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5-10 years’ experience in public relations or journalism in the Americas region.
- Experience in Corporate Travel/Travel Industry is highly preferred.
- The ability to convert communications strategy into effective PR activities that address brand and business imperatives.
- Experience in working across large cross functional teams within complex, global environments.
- Clear communicator with superb writing and messaging skills.
- Strong media and industry contacts within local market (travel/trade, business, news etc.)
- Experience in managing PR agencies a plus.
- Event management capabilities requiring strong strategic content support and cross-functional collaboration is a plus
- Experience managing budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to craft and implement broad digital/social campaigns with success.
- Well organized and able to multi-task and prioritize workload.
