Crisis Worker

Located in Belleville, Clara Maass Medical Center is a facility of RWJBarnabas Health and provides a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. Our facility includes centers for advanced wound care, sleep disorders, bariatrics, orthopedics cardiac services, cancer care, emergency services, and more. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and a recently expanded Emergency Department.

Clara Maass Medical Center has been recognized nationally for its quality and patient safety by Healthgrades and by The Leapfrog Group, having earned its twelfth Grade A in 2019. Position: Per Diem Hotline Workers

Hours: Weekends/ Holidays/Evening/Overnight/ Various shifts/Flexible Work Schedule 8am-4pm / 4pm-12am/12am-8am shifts

Job Description: Responsible for total operation of the hotline and shelter on weekends and holidays or as needed for Day/Evening or Overnight shifts

Responsibilities:

  • Answer 24 hour hotline and provide appropriate service or referral
  • Admit clients to shelter, assign rooms and provide personal items
  • Complete all admission paperwork
  • Assure security of facility at all times
  • Complete shift check list before end of shift
  • Record all occurrences, admissions and hotline calls for next shift personnel
  • Enforce all shelter guidelines and regulations
  • Mediate client disputes in a non-threatening manner
  • Respond to clients' needs in appropriate manner
  • Provide support counseling as needed
  • Accept donations delivered to facility during off hours
  • Order meals on appropriate shift
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years experience working in a shelter preferred
  • Must have knowledge of the dynamics of Domestic Violence
  • 40 hour Domestic Violence training certificate required or completed within 6 months
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively and independently
