Become a Customer Billing Resolution Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will work in the Customer Billing Operations (CBO) group and will be responsible for performing various billing transactions and analysis in order to resolve billing exceptions for our customers. Training to prepare you on how to use systems to analyze the billing exceptions will be required, including up to 10 weeks of classroom training followed by an on-the-job nesting period. Systems include SAP, Itron Enterprise Edition (IEE), MS Access databases, Excel spreadsheets, and other reports and systems as needed. In addition, you will be prepped on the various policies, processes, rules, and regulations. After successful training, your primary responsibility will be to review and analyze accounts to determine why a customer account failed to automatically bill and will collaborate directly with various internal departments and personnel to solve billing issues in a timely and high-quality manner.

  • Receive billing exception work from daily queues, spreadsheets, reports, email inboxes as well as databases.
  • Investigation and analysis of accounts involving a variety of billing issues or complaint resolution using independent discernment and initiative.
  • Learn through formal and informal training, side-by-sides, and job shadows on the various billing functions such as Meter Order Processing, Crossed Meters, Meter Data Management, Net Energy Metering, Community Choice Aggregation, rates, rules processes and procedures in order to fully resolve from end-to-end simple to highly complex billing issues.
  • Detailed and accurate record keeping.
  • Perform other projects/duties as assigned.
Qualifications


The essentials

  • Three (3) or more years of experience analyzing and interpreting complex data and resolving various customer problems.
  • Experience using billing, accounting, and/or financial systems to resolve billing exceptions, such as AP, AR, payroll, loan processing or related function.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and knowledgeable of Access.
  • One (1) or more years of experience performing billing transactions in SAP or similar enterprise-wide system.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Community Choice Aggregation, Meter Data Management Systems, and/or Net Metering Services.
  • Experience learning and demonstrating proficiency in multiple tasks or responsibilities using a variety of learning methods including formal and informal training, side-by-sides, and job shadows or any other learning tactic.
  • Experience building and maintaining business relationships and working with all levels of employees.
  • Experience resolving billing exceptions and issues for customers with accuracy and promptness, preferably within an electric, gas, or water utility industry.
  • Ability to take initiative and accountability for the accuracy of information and for achieving results.
  • Experience making recommendations to various levels of leadership.
  • Experience handling small and large projects and escalated customer issues that have a short timeline to reach resolution.
  • Effective resource and task planning, decision-making, results delivery, teamwork, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adjust to changing priorities, organize a heavy workload, take ownership and follow through on all assignments.
  • Work well in a team environment and perform with minimal supervision.
  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
  • Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

You should know

  • This position is remote. Based on business needs, onsite work at the Irwindale location may be required on a routine basis. Candidates who reside more than 75 miles from this location will not be considered.
  • Training Class starts July/August 2023 (subject to change).
  • You will complete up to 10-week of training in its entirety. Class requires a commitment to be in attendance every day for the duration of training and nesting. Additionally, employees will be required to be on camera through video conferencing technology for the entirety of training.

  • This is a full-time, project regular position for an estimated duration of 12 months. This position is eligible for company benefits and incentives during the duration of the assignment.

Testing

  • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
