The Actuarial Function falls under the remit of the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with the underwriting, claims, sales and pricing departments. We are looking for a talented data engineer/analyst to join the actuarial team to help us better utilise our data and enhance our operating processes. Job Responsibilities
Working together with reserving actuaries, the data analyst will be responsible for:
- Developing, maintaining and refreshing datasets in MSSQL and SSAS tabular
- Developing and maintaining a variety of SSIS ETL packages
- Developing and maintaining a variety of SSRS reports to ensure data quality
- Further automation of existing processes
- Producing accurate, reliable and timely reports on claim trends, keeping a strong focus on quality, completeness and accuracy of reporting data
- Analysing data, interpreting results and providing written summaries of analysis in a style and format that can be understood by business users
- Participation in the gathering and delivering of data requirements in cross functional projects
- Representing the actuarial department’s interest at a variety of data related committees
- Creating and updating documentation in relation to the reports and business logic

Education
Experiences
- Computer Science, Statistics, Maths or Business Degree;
- Computer literate with strong knowledge of databases and SQL, MS Access, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications;
- Ability to create ad-hoc reports using SQL extraction
- Strong SSIS experience with particular emphasis on developing ETL packages
- Experience of developing, maintaining and running SSRS reports
- Experience of all aspects of SSAS tabular models
- Tableau desktop experience, an advantage
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills and decision-making ability
- Experience working with Azure cloud resources is advantageous but not essential
- Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Experience with large data sets, data manipulation, and data cleansing
- Strong focus on quality, documentation, attention to detail, completeness and accuracy of reporting data
