Role Profile

We are seeking an enthusiastic Data Engineer to join our growing team of analytics experts in building a world class analytics function using some of the latest technologies. The hire will be responsible for building, managing and optimizing data pipelines and then moving these data pipelines effectively into production for key data and analytics consumers. The data engineer will also be tasked with working with key business stakeholders, IT experts and subject-matter experts to plan and deliver optimal analytics and data science solutions. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and working collaboratively to provide solutions to data challenges. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams in a dynamic and fast-moving environment. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

Duties

  • Create and maintain the data pipeline architecture in line with modern best practice

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability

  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements

  • Work with stakeholders including IT and functional teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs

  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources

  • Create structured and ad hoc reports using Power BI

  • Maintain required documents to support maintenance and knowledge building

  • Skills & Competencies

  • 3+ years professional experience in Data Warehousing

  • Experience with cloud-based databases like Snowflake, Azure sql etc.

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (Snowflake experience preferred)

  • Knowledge of how to architect/design data management processes and capabilities (e.g governance, archiving, metadata, master data mgmt., data modeling, data quality)

  • Experience working with Azure Data Factory or similar data integration tool (Fivetran, Matillion etc.) to build and orchestrate data pipelines

  • Understanding of modern data preparation, integration and metadata management tools and techniques

  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets

  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Experience working on an cloud migration project an advantage but not a requirement

  • Experience integrating with APIs ( REST / SOAP ) is a distinct advantage
