Data Protection Administrator

Background
The Risk, Compliance and Professional Standards (“RCPS”) department in Grant Thornton Ireland provides internal firm support services to all offices in Ireland in many specialist areas as follows:
- Legal and data protection;
- Client acceptance and continuance;
- Audit methodology and accounting technical support;
- Quality and risk management;
- Insolvency compliance;
RCPS provide strategic, innovative, creative and most importantly quality services and solutions to enable our people every day to give the best external client service. The RCPS team promotes and monitors compliance with applicable auditing and accounting standards, external laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures to help manage Grant Thornton’s regulatory, litigation and reputational risk.
RCPS includes our Legal & Data Protection team (“L&DP”) headed up by our Legal Counsel. L&DP are responsible for areas including commercial engagements by the firm, supplier and client due diligence questionnaires, claims and complaints, internal data protection compliance and general legal / data protection queries.
Opportunity
Due to continued growth and internal advancement within the team, L&DP is now recruiting for a Data Protection Administrator. The team member will assist the Data Protection team by responding to, and processing, Data Subject Access Requests and by providing assistance and support on Data Protection matters raised by the RCPS Team and by the wider firm. This is a permanent contract.
Main Responsibilities:

Processing Data Subject Access Requests received by the firm;

Monitoring and assisting management of the data protection team mailboxes;

Maintaining data protection team trackers for weekly meetings;

Assisting with routine data protection queries and assisting the team with data protection research;

General team admin tasks;

Upkeep of the firm’s standard data protection documentation and templates;
Skills and Attributes:
-
Excellent attention to detail;
-
Excellent project management skills;
-
Excellent knowledge of GDPR and other data protection laws and regulations;
-
Strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills;
-
Ability to multi-task, to manage time effectively and to prioritise assignments in a fast-paced environment;

Knowledge of technology and IT is preferred;

Strong ability in building relationships and communicating with people at all levels;

Excellent team player;
-
1 year experience in a similar data protection role is preferred.
