Job description
A full-time, permanent vacancy has arisen for the role of Data Protection Officer. The successful candidate will advise the business on data protection matters, fulfil the regulatory role of DPO and manage the data protection function providing support to the business and operating key data protection processes.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Support the business in DP matters providing advice on DP legislative requirements and control measures
- Operate and Oversee DP processes including data subject rights fulfilment and personal data breach reporting
- Assess and report on the compliance of business units with the requirements of Data Protection Law
- Ensure that there is comprehensive DP training for all relevant parts of the business.
- Perform statutory DPO duties including:
- advise the business on its obligations under data protection legislation in particular as regards business process changes and data subject rights
- reports to highest management level on compliance with data protection legislation
- act as contact point for the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
- respond to such direct requests from data subjects as are made under data subjects’ rights under data protection legislation
- Support the Risk Management Framework and operate within the business processes
- Manage coach and develop the DP team
The successful candidate must have:
- Minimum 5 years experience of working in data protection and associated controls in a business environment
- Good knowledge of data protection legislation regulations, guidelines and practices Experience working with business change projects and information technology
- Experience of dealing with customers (e.g. in breach scenarios) * Experience interacting with business partners.
- Strong communicator and ability to write reports for senior management and to interact with regulators, and legal advisors *
- A legal background
- Ability to see through data protection compliance programme, and give training.
- Good people management skills ability to coach and develop team and their engagement Effective management of relationships across organisation to develop positive risk culture and profile
- Solutions focused, analytical thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables within tight timeframes
- Proactive, flexible with customer view and focus with strong solution influencing skills to obtain best outcomes for all stakeholders
