Role Description
In tandem with our cloud partner, the role will oversee the design, configuration, support of SQL and Oracle DBs as required by the business. Oversee the capacity, monitoring, and performance of DBs to improve the service offered. Supervise release management
Manage the alignment of IT-enabled services and service levels with business needs and expectations, including identification, specification, design, publishing, agreement, and monitoring of IT service levels and performance indicators.
Team Responsibilities
As part of the overall IT Team share in team responsibilities, that include
  • Ownership of IPSI’s IT Infrastructure and ensures that it operates reliably in accordance with high availability SLAs
  • Drives the IT infrastructure risk and cyber management plans, technology upgrades, renewal and modernisation programs to maintain a robust service
  • Manages suppliers and service providers in a formal governance process to maintain standards and value for money for IPSI
  • Work with the support desk service to capture, address and close technology queries, issues and requests, and manages technology on-boarding, off-boarding and access rights maintenance for new and existing users
  • Intervenes in accordance with the Incident Management Process if there are interruptions or unexpected alterations for Systems Operations processes to support timely resolutions and corrections of the underlying issues
Role Responsibilities
This role:
In conjunction with cloud partner - Oversee the design, support, and maintenance of DBs in a SQL and Oracle environment Responsible for database capacity management Responsible for SQL version upgrade management Responsible for Database Monitoring / Performance Ensures that business services are fully supported day-to-day as per agreed SLA’s, and takes steps to prevent or rectify service issues. Contributes to the process around incident and problem management efficiently and effectively.

Quality and Reliability of IT Services
  • Ensure the health of IPSI’s DB posture
  • Timely provision of IPSI’s IT DB health reporting
  • Contributes Incident Management: Quantities, severity, resolution times
Requirements
  • Holds an IT degree or equivalent with a min 5 years’ required working in IT in similar roles
  • Technical skills would include SQL 2008, 2016, Oracle DBs, SSIS
  • Is an experienced technologist who can act on own initiative, is a self-starter with a positive outlook, and has the drive to improve the environment, learn new skills and further their career
  • Should be a highly organised individual, with a keen eye for detail. Has the drive and tenacity to insist on doing things right.
  • Needs to be a good communicator, and able to work with a variety of stakeholders representing different functions at different managerial levels.
