Azure Operations Administrator
Description:
Job Summary: Gallagher Bassett, a division of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co, is seeking an Azure Operations Analyst with expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Portal, Azure Synapse Analytics, and cloud-based SQL Server solutions to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing our Azure-based solutions, ensuring the seamless integration of data pipelines, supporting analytics workloads, and managing cloud-based SQL Server instances. Your expertise will contribute to the ongoing success of our business operations and data-driven decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance, cost, and reliability of Azure-based solutions, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Portal, Azure Synapse Analytics, and cloud-based SQL Server instances.
- Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) for data integration and transformation.
- Provide operational support for Azure Synapse Analytics, including data warehouse management, data lake integration, and query performance tuning.
- Manage and maintain cloud-based SQL Server instances, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Collaborate with development teams, data engineers, and data scientists to troubleshoot and resolve Azure-based application and service issues.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with industry standards and regulations for all supported Azure services.
- Develop and maintain documentation for Azure infrastructure, processes, and procedures related to the supported services.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to end-users and other IT staff as needed.
- Stay up to date with the latest Azure technologies, services, and best practices to provide recommendations for improvements and optimizations.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, including data warehouse management, data lake integration, and query performance tuning.
- Proficient in using the Azure Portal for managing resources, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with cloud-based SQL Server solutions, such as Azure SQL Database or Amazon RDS for SQL Server.
- Solid understanding of Azure services and data integration, transformation, and ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and timelines.
Credentials and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Azure operations, with a focus on Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Portal, Azure Synapse Analytics, and cloud-based SQL Server solutions.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
- Experience with other Azure data services, such as Azure Databricks, Azure Stream Analytics, or Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools, such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong working knowledge of project tracking, reporting and management.
- Familiarity and experience using workload automation and job scheduling software
- Experience in an environment that operates 24x7x365
