Job description
Under supervision, provides exceptional customer service to taxpayers who have business to conduct with the Montgomery County Treasurers Office. This position reports to the Supervisor and the Assistant Treasurer of the Tax Delinquency Department.
Specific work will vary based on the assignment but will include the following types of work:
Provides exceptional customer service when assisting taxpayers in person, by email, or over the telephone, including payment options for delinquent real estate taxes.- Reviews real estate records and provides information within the Treasurer’s office, to taxpayers, and other real estate entities.
- Writes and maintains installment payment agreements per Ohio Revised Code.
- Collaborates with the Auditor’s office to add and remit interest and penalties for delinquent real estate taxes as permitted by Ohio Revised Code.
- Initiates and reviews payment posting and reconciliation of delinquent installment and tax lien payments.
- Provides proration of real estate taxes, as requested by the Sheriff’s Office, for third-party Sheriff sales and private party selling officers.
- Assist with Depositor Foreclosure applications and deposit payments.
- Provides service to manufactured home taxpayers.
- Contributes to organizational effort during tax collection.
- Scans and maintains records as it applies to document retention policy or policies.
- Maintains and updates excel spreadsheets.
- Assists and Supports Delinquency Analysts when needed.
- Processes delinquent department mail and payments.
- Explains and assists delinquent taxpayers with EFT documents.
- Ensure contact information, including mailing address and phone numbers are up to date.
- Makes phone calls, prepares mailings, and does research for delinquent tax collection.
- Reviews and responds to delinquency department emails.
- Performs other duties as the Supervisor or Assistant Treasurer for Tax Delinquency deems necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
-AND-
Minimum of one (1) year of office experience – experience in the Treasurer’s Office preferable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good time management skills
- Proficient at delivering concise, specific information in a high-volume environment
- Maintain strong interpersonal communication skills
- Strong working knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Word
- Solid computer and analytical skills
- Team-oriented
- Aptitude for basic mathematics for collecting and recording transactions
- Capability to become proficient in job tasks through on-the-job-training within four (4) month period

Seasonal Employees: Benefits include Sick Leave accrued at 4.6 hours for every eighty 80 hours in active
pay status. Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees and can use their vacation after completion of twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status. Part-time Seasonal employees (scheduled to work less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.
Intermittent and Temporary Employees: Long-Term Sick Leave accrual is based on hours worked.
