REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Provides chairside assistance to the dentist, takes radiographs, scans patients’ dentition, takes impressions, ensures infection control protocols are met and performs various other duties that are essential to patient care.

ESSENTIAL ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Expose, and evaluate dental radiographs
• Monitor nitrous oxide
• Perform infection control and occupational safety procedures
• Provide patient education
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality both inside and outside of the office.
• Take preliminary medical histories and vital signs to be reviewed by the dentist.
• Take impressions for study casts, diagnostic casts, space maintainers, orthodontic appliances, and occlusal guards
• Other dental supportive services authorized by the licensed dentist while under the direct personal supervision of the licensed dentist, provided that such other dental supportive services are not excluded
• Participates in office marketing campaigns, social media marketing, ground marketing and other activities that positively promote the practice.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR A REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT:

• Received a degree or certificate from a dental assisting educational program approved by the Michigan State Board of Dentistry with instruction on expanded functions.
• Passed the Michigan Board comprehensive and clinical exam.
• Completed two hours of implicit bias training.
• Completed a one-time training in identifying victims of human trafficking.
• Completed the criminal background check process.
• Applied for licensure in the state of Michigan.

AND

Obtained a license from the Michigan Board of Dentistry.

Pay: $19.50 - $25.00 per hour

License/Certification:

• X-Ray Certification (Required)
