SIU Adams County Dental Clinic has a full time opening for a Dental Hygienist.

Must have an active license to practice Dental Hygiene in the State of Illinois and current certification and training for administration of nitrous oxide and local anesthetic as specified in the Illinois Dental Practice Act and CPR certification.

Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism and complies with all federal, state, and local laws related to the Dental Hygienist position. Must have a working knowledge of and compliance with all department policies and procedures and provide quality dental hygiene services to eligible patients according to the guidelines of the Illinois Dental Practice Act.

Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive dental services in a variety of settings and consults with patients physician office regarding medical problems in relation to future dental treatment.

Performs dental hygiene functions which includes scaling and root planning, polishing teeth, applying topical fluoride, obtaining radiographs, sealants and impressions. Provides flossing and oral hygiene instruction as needed. May provide these services without direct supervision according to the Illinois Dental Practice Act. Assists dentist in clinical operatory when needed and consults with patient and/or parent/guardian regarding oral hygiene, fee schedule, and follow up visits. Assumes a leadership role in providing dental procedure education to patients to promote compliance and understanding of dental treatment.

Applies appropriate technical skills based on available medical data and professional judgement. Records appropriate data on patient EMR according to accepted dental care guidelines and assumes responsibility for professional development and job related competency.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

• Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

• Dentrix: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Registered Dental Hygienist (Preferred)
