We are looking for an experienced Design Operations Lead to streamline processes and practices for organization-wide Design functions as part of the Software Engineering Solutions (SES) group.

Responsibilities
As a UX Design Operations Lead, you will be responsible for managing tools, processes, and practices for cross disciplinary design teams. Your primary goal will be to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the design team by streamlining workflows and creating a scalable system for design operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring that the design team operates at peak efficiency and delivers high-quality work that meets the needs of the user and the business.
As a UX Design Operations Lead your responsibilities will include:
  • Working with the design team to define and document design processes and best practices in line with a human centred approach
  • Managing tools used by the design team, including software licenses, upgrades, and user permissions. Identify and evaluate new tools and technologies that can improve the team's overall productivity
  • Creating and managing a streamlined workflow for the design team that enables them to work collaboratively and efficiently. This includes creating a project visibility system and setting up design critiques to establish a clear scheme of design delivery
  • Defining good meeting etiquette. Work to reduce unnecessary meetings, and make those that remain more productive (e.g., define requirements for clear agendas before meetings and action items after meetings)
  • Working with Director of Design on team budgeting to achieve visibility on cost of running the team and transparency for resource allocation. Help forecast work and manage people allocation accordingly
  • Refining process for onboarding of new members of the team
  • Identifying and address skill-gaps in the team and define pathways to addressing them. This will include training on design tools, processes, and best practices, as well as defining paths to overall education materials for topics such as design thinking, user research, and accessibility, etc.
  • Working closely with stakeholders, including product owners, project managers, and developers, to ensure that design work aligns with project goals and timelines
  • Acting as an advocate for the design team, ensuring that they have the resources and support from other business areas that they need to be successful
Characteristics:
  • Strives to remove complexity and ambiguity within the teams and their processes. Ability to distil and provide clear and actionable recommendations to the team
  • Ability to converse with Finance and Legal functions with a view to frictionless onboarding of new tools
  • Knowledge of design thinking, user research, and usability testing
  • Experience in design operations, project management, or a related field
  • Experience managing tools (e.g. Figma, Dovetail, Miro) and processes for large scale teams
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
