The Employee will be employed as a Section Leader within the Mechanical Design Department and will be reporting to the Design Manager – Mechanical.

Key Elements of the Role:

• Lead and effectively manage and implement project scheduling for a team of engineers.
• Train, coach, mentor and develop engineering employees, both new and existing.
• Ensure efficient preparation of drawings, bills of materials and other documentation required.
• Maintenance of the design database, ensuring that all design drawings and concepts are centrally stored.
• Liaise with and support other design functions, production, customer service and Installation departments.
• Liaise with Production and Purchasing Depts. in order to agree milestones for on-time completion of design of all parts / components related to your area.
• Liaise with personnel within and outside the design department in ensuring that designs produced are current, incorporate all updated solutions and conform to the standards required.
• Liaise with various sub suppliers / sub-contractors to ensure component fabrication and components quality is in accordance with the expectations and requirements of Liebherr.
• Review technical requirements with clients, consultants and other design functions.
• Create, update, maintain and monitor project plans in line with company objectives.
• Preparation and organisation of work for all employees in the department, thus ensuring that sufficient resources are available at all times, scheduling of annual leave and flexi time / leave.
• Providing assistance, advice and information to employees to help them carry out their tasks.
• Evaluating employees’ performance to ensure quality and efficient operation of tasks.
• Monitor BSM issues to ensure issues are progressed to resolution.
• Occasional travel abroad is required
• Any and all other activities that are requested and within the capabilities of and appropriate to the role.

• A third level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar demanding role an advantage.
• High level knowledge and experience in 3D design packages and related technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to build, manage and maintain relationships at all levels.
• Self-motivated, good management capabilities, flexibility, strong problem solving skills.
• Ability to manage a team. Proven organisational skills & experience in managing multiple issues/projects simultaneously.
