Job Description:

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the global edge-to-cloud company advancing the way people live and work. We help companies connect, protect, analyze, and act on their data and applications wherever they live, from edge to cloud, so they can turn insights into outcomes at the speed required to thrive in today’s complex world. Our culture thrives on finding new and better ways to accelerate what’s next. We know diverse backgrounds are valued and succeed here. We have the flexibility to manage our work and personal needs. We make bold moves, together, and are a force for good. If you are looking to stretch and grow your career our culture will embrace you. Open up opportunities with HPE.

About this role

Come help us build the future of deep learning at Determined AI! Our customers are scientists and engineers working on the latest in autonomous driving, pharmaceutical research, and automated video analysis, among other things. As part of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, we’re installed in some of the largest computing clusters in the world, enabling cutting-edge deep learning teams to train better models in less time.

Building machine learning (ML) models at scale is extremely difficult, time-consuming, and expensive. At Determined AI, we are working to change that: our revolutionary open source platform enables ML engineers to train better models in less time, to seamlessly share GPU clusters, and to collaborate more effectively. We allow ML engineers to spend their time doing ML, rather than managing infrastructure or writing boilerplate code.

As a product manager focused on machine learning, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our cutting-edge ML platform. You will work with customers, open source users, and internal experts to define our product direction and roadmap. You will collaborate with product designers and engineers to scope intuitive, elegant, and functional new features, and you will work cross-functionally with our engineering team to deliver those features to our customers. As an ML product manager, you will particularly focus on understanding new developments in machine learning and defining how our product should adapt to those advances. For example, if you’re excited about transfer learning and foundation models and how those ideas can be incorporated into our ML development environment, this might be the role for you!

Your work will include gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to meet our company’s goals. You will directly report to Determined AI’s Product Lead.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with Determined’s customers, community users, researchers, and internal experts to keep up with the state-of-the-art in machine learning, and to identify challenges and opportunities for the next generation of machine learning infrastructure

  • Gather requirements, conduct market research, and formulate user stories for new product features

  • Refine and improve our UX for the Machine Learning and Platform Engineer personas

  • Contribute to the design of new product features

  • Develop mockups and prototypes for user testing and write product feature specifications to handoff to engineering for execution

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers towards delivery of features

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years experience as a Product Manager, particularly in machine learning, analytics, data science, developer tools, or open source software

  • Highly innovative and excited to invent novel products for an emerging market

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; graduate degree or equivalent experience preferred
