Developer Engagement Lead
The Developer Engagement team’s mission is to create an outstanding experience for developers, engaging them in the communities where they live and supporting them with the right resources and programs as they learn about Mastercard and integrate to our suite of APIs and platforms.
Mastercard has an opportunity to provide a lot of value and technical leadership to the developer community. Aside from running run one of the biggest networks in the world processing billions of transactions through card payments and APIs, we are world leaders in security, networking, security/cryptography, AI/Machine Learning, data analytics and all of it globally and at huge scale.
As Developer Engagement Lead, your mission will be to educate the external developer communities about what Mastercard can do for them and provide them with the value-add tooling and content to help them integrate and get their visionary products to market at the speed they want to move at. You will be integral in crafting our developer engagement strategy and executing on this critical piece of our vision.
Role:
- Partner with engineering teams and programs across Mastercard globally to surface the tools and content that will make the jobs of developers easier
- Build awareness of Mastercard APIs, tools, libraries, and expertise
- Identify where we may be letting our developers down, and being an advocate for change to address these needs
- Establish frequent and consistent bidirectional communication with the developer community, including blog posting, tutorials and social media engagement
- Drive a culture of responsiveness for developer questions across platforms; including Mastercard support channels and live chat, Stack Overflow etc.
- Become embedded in the developer community to deeply understand developer concerns and needs
- Design and then deliver (build or partner with the product teams) developer-first content and tools like reference implementations, libraries and source code, how-to guides, blogs, webinars, videos, demos, whitepapers to demonstrate expertise and vision
- Work with a cross-organizational team of stakeholders to develop a unified voice to the Mastercard developer community

- A passion for a wide range of developer products and tools with a strong desire to engage with the developer community
- Demonstrated ability to upskill on new technologies/frameworks/tools
- Compelling story teller with an ability to communicate complex technology simply to technical and non-technical audiences
- Enthusiastic about educating and enabling others and helping developers solve problems
- Experience speaking at developer events like conferences and meet-ups.
- Experience writing/organizing/publishing technical documentation, blogs, and newsletters that are geared towards developer engagement
- Experience with publishing media content like podcasts/vlogs
Not required, but would make you stand out:
- Experience in software development and coding to API's across a range of languages and frameworks
- Experience in a direct, hands-on community or end-user focused role such as developer advocacy and technical community management
- Involvement in running in-person and virtual developer events (hackathons, meet-ups etc.)
We are very flexible with respect to the logistics for this role. It can be 100% remote or hybrid with our office in Dublin.
