The Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the Development team with the administration and implementation of tasks that support fund development. They will collaborate with other employees and volunteers to advance all the strategic goals of the Alzheimer’s Association. Will support fundraising activities throughout the state.

Responsibilities:

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist staff with day-to-day tasks that support fundraising, community engagement and volunteer recruitment/management activities, including customer relationship management.
  • Prepare a variety of documents (e.g. correspondence, agendas, minutes, reports, etc.) to communicate information and/or create documentation in paper and/or electronic format.
  • Develop, input, and maintain information in appropriate computer software programs including Excel, Google Suite and a CRM system.
  • Handle report generation, including manipulating data from multiple systems.
  • Handle financial tasks, including paying invoices and others as needed.
  • Cultivate relationships with diverse groups of partners including volunteers, staff, vendors, volunteers, and association leadership.
  • Develop event and meeting materials as needed including signage, brochures, invitations, postcards, etc.
  • Submit online donation requests with the assistance of Development Managers.
  • Represent association at various fundraising events, volunteer and committee meetings, and conferences.
  • Performs other duties (or functions) as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Non-Profit Management or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in sales, marketing, peer-to-peer fundraising or administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success in working independently and managing multiple projects
  • Experience in volunteer development and management, public relations, donor cultivation and relations, corporate sponsor cultivation and relations a plus.
  • Ability to support the mission, vision, and values of the Alzheimer’s Association and abide by applicable standards of conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload to meet deadlines and achieve performance objectives.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to problem-solve issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusiveness
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS) Suite applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint specifically), with intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and database use required. Fluency in Google Suite and basic graphics programs a plus.
  • Ability to analyze data and present in written and oral form.
  • Ability to lift maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout the Wisconsin Chapter Area.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends occasionally as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance.
