Ridgeview Health Center is now hiring a full-time Dietary Aide! The Diet Aide is responsible for preparing and serving therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
- Prepares and serves therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus.
- Prepares therapeutic desserts and salad as required for assisted and skilled nursing facility.
- Serves meals in the health center. Sets up tables in the health center dining room and breaks down same after meals.
- Transports hot and cold foods to and from the kitchen. Transports all required non-food items to and from the kitchen.
- Maintains station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary conditions.
- Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
- Follows proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense.
- Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six months experience as a diet aide or diet clerk in a skilled nursing facility is preferred but not required. Will train on-the-job.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
- Ability to interpret standardized recipes, instructions, specifications, and standards.
- Ability to plan and organize work, set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders, and interpret specifications and standards.
- Requires empathy for the elderly.
CRITICAL FUNCTION:
This position is essential to the safety of our residents and staff; and to the operation and function of the community. Employee may be recalled to report to work for an emergency, unusual occurrences, resident care needs, visit from regulatory/governing agencies or any other event deemed necessary by the Executive Director, Administrator, and designee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to stand or walk for 100% of the work day. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. When lifting over 35 lbs, you are required to ask for assistance. Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment generally weighing up to 200 lbs. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves-range burners) for short periods of time. May be exposed to industrial and household chemicals and high heat levels.
