TYPICAL TASKS
- Assists the Webmaster and Online Content Coordinator in reviewing and approving submissions from content providers and ensures all content follows both City and industry writing, formatting, and accessibility standards. Provides quality assurance and control for submissions prior to posting to the website.
- Works with the Webmaster and Online Content Coordinator to review daily quality assurance reports and webpages pending review to correct misspellings, fix broken links, and ensure images and documents are in the appropriate format and size recommended by the Chesapeake Web Standards Guide.
- Works with assigned content providers, department representatives, and other City staff to add and update content to ensure content is accurate, timely, and relevant to various City audiences, both external and internal.
- Works with the Webmaster and Online Content Coordinator to ensure images, links, and tables are accessible in accordance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.
- Assists with producing and managing online forms, photo galleries, asset listings, and other modules and page types available through the content management system and other programs.
- Assists the Online Content Coordinator in creating message templates and sending notifications to internal and external customers through Chesapeake Alert and helps with other tasks as needed.
- Helps ensure agendas and videos for City Council, Planning Commission, and other boards and commissions are appropriately archived according to City and state standards.
- Assists in providing basic support to departments by uploading agendas and minutes as well as creating and updating recorded meeting events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience: In addition to the vocational/educational requirements, this position requires at least one year of related, full-time equivalent experience working with large, complex, multi-page websites.
Special Certifications and Licenses: Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards.
Special Requirement: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term departmental needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job
duties.
