Job description
The Digital Content & Graphics Specialist, in collaboration with the Director, Membership & Marketing and Sr. Manager, Communications, helps drive the creative process and production of all marketing materials. They will work to visually communicate the Conservancy’s messaging through artistic measures and creative design. The Digital Content & Graphic Design Specialist will research content and consumer trends, develop content strategies, and create content in both print and digital media, ensuring that the content is engaging and consistent across all media platforms. This includes developing creative concepts and graphic design for marketing/promotions, social media, fundraising campaigns, and advertising activities that fully align to overall brand and brand protocols.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with marketing & communications team to define content and design goals.
- Produces graphic art and visual materials for print and digital media ensuring that layout and design are aligned with brand and production standards and follow best practices.
- Create content and graphic design for a variety of platforms including blogs, websites, and social media, working with departments across the Conservancy.
- Responsible for content, management and execution of all social media for the Conservancy. • Research content and consumer trends to ensure that content is relevant, appealing and up to date with advancements in technology.
- Develop content strategies to effectively reach the desired target audience and marketing goals.
- Ensure that SEO and SMO strategies are effectively implemented.
- Oversee content calendars in line with the communications calendar, ensuring that the content remains consistent across all platforms.
- Coordinate with the marketing and communications team to ensure the timely delivery of assignments.
- Serve as brand champion, ensuring that all deliverables are on brand in terms of look, feel and messaging.
- Prepare and ensure timely graphic design and layout of Conservancy marketing and communications including: biannual Conservancy times, brochures, fact sheets, monthly E-News, email templates, annual report, event collateral, rack cards, maps, vehicle wraps, Trailhead video displays, signage and other digital or printed materials as needed.
- Maintain Conservancy website working with all Conservancy departments to provide updates. • Oversee all photo and video assets.
- Organize and oversee photo and video shoots based on Conservancy needs, collaborating with external partners.
- Increase individual and organizational creative design industry knowledge by participating in continuing education opportunities through external trainings and conferences, supplier presentations and team meetings. Provide guidance on best practices to other Conservancy staff and partners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Demonstrate strong project management and hands-on skills in creative design and development and execution of marketing campaigns.
- Excellent visual design skills.
- A design portfolio of published work.
- Proficiency of content and layout design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (notably Illustrator and InDesign).
- Excellent computer skills with MS Office and Google Suite.
- Strong knowledge of various content platforms such as social media, website, blogs, and print media.
- Experience with WordPress.
- Strong understanding of content practices such as SEO, SMO, and PPC. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to keep abreast of content and consumer trends and advancements in technology. COMPLEXITY/PROBLEM SOLVING:
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines and tasks.
- Ability to monitor and proactively drive a pipeline of new and scheduled projects, with sensitivity to priorities, deadlines and review processes.
- Ability to think creatively/forecast with budget management proficiency.
- Ability to work in collaborative environment with diversified products, locations, demographics and markets.

- Ability to maintain effective working relationships across departments and with external partners.

- Ability to use discretion and sensitivity in handling highly confidential donor information.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in marketing or similar field required. A minimum of three years of experience in content creation, creative design, marketing or similar.

- Periodic travel throughout the region and to Catalina Island and leading tours of the Conservancy lands. Must be capable of responsibly and effectively touring donors on the Island in four-wheel drive vehicles on narrow rural roads, as well as travel by boat on excursions and Island visits.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
