Position Overview
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is North America's premier professional lacrosse league.
We are looking to hire Director, Business Development who will report to the EVP Commercial Operations. The Director, Business Development is responsible for achieving stated annual revenue goals leveraging the full breadth of the NLL’s partnership asset arsenal across the US and Canada. This will include in-venue signage, on-player branding, in-game broadcasts, jewel events, grassroots initiatives, digital media programming, and across all social channels.

Responsibilities
  • The Director Business Development will work closely with the EVP Commercial Operations to evolve and amplify the League’s commercial strategy to achieve organizational revenue goals.
  • Identify, prospect, and establish connections with decision-makers at potential sales targets in the US and Canada to build and maintain a robust pipeline of high-potential partners.
  • Lead the League-wide effort to ensure current corporate partners are retained and renewed through the development of new assets and inventory that meet and exceed partners’ ongoing sponsorship goals and objectives.
  • Assist the EVP Commercial Operations and key NLL staff with the development of all commercial collateral and presentations with an emphasis on the League’s unique partnership assets and storytelling opportunities.
  • Monitor the changing sports and entertainment industry’s changing landscape via ongoing research of partnership asset valuations, key consumer segments, emerging markets and trends, and new fan engagement and technology opportunities.
  • Prepare a real-time pipeline CRM database, internal analytical reports/sales forecasts, partnership analysis throughout the season, and department progress reports to senior management and League committees as needed.

Is this you?
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience as a revenue-generating business development professional; preferably in sports, media, or related industries.
  • Proven track record of identifying sales opportunities, managing relationships, filling sales pipelines with qualified leads, ability to negotiate potential new business offerings, and closing deals.
  • Experience presenting sales pitches to senior level executives.
  • Must demonstrate strategic and analytical thinking.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Travel to games, sales meetings or other league events and/or extended hours may be required.
The NLL offers company paid medical insurance and participation in 401k. This position can work remotely in the short term; however, the organization will return to a TBD in-person office environment in the future.
