Work Location: Office/Remote Hybrid. This role will be officed out of the Lakeville, MN Corporate office
This position is in-office with a flexible schedule that may entail working from home a couple of days out of the week. #LI-hybrid
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Primary liaison between the sales & marketing groups and the manufacturing plants.
- Operations commercialization expert with deep understanding of how engineering, manufacturing, and commercialization work with each other to execute the business strategy
- Builds close ties with R&D and engineering to support the strategic direction of manufacturing with regards to assigned assets
- Drive gross margin % improvement through partnership with Finance and other key stakeholders
- Supports and provides manufacturing guidance to project & brand management teams.
- Provides direction on product sourcing and manufacturing location for new items.
- Supports assessments on new products, line extensions, & quality improvements.
- Develops project justifications to improve manufacturing network flexibility & reduce costs.
- Serves as project sponsor/lead for network operations driven projects during commercialization.
- Performs capacity assessments to ensure network design matches anticipated volume within 4-18 month time horizon.
- Coordinates with sales to explore product options for underutilized assets & platforms.
- Assess manufacturing capabilities to ensure alignment with consumer promotions needs and planned future innovation
- Supports engineering and capital project initiatives as needed.
- Interfaces with sister companies on synergies and external manufacturing inquiries.
- Provides periodic manufacturing updates & capability overviews to organization.
- Provides support as needed to Network Strategy related to acquisitions.
- Work with the manufacturing plants and business teams on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation processes
- Develops best practices related to the commercialization process that drive efficiency.
- Coordinates reviews & gain alignment on project priorities with the commercial teams.
- Responsible for personal & career development of Operations Business Management Team
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or Supply Chain.
- Minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience in food & consumer packaged goods.
- Minimum of 5 years supply chain experience with external contract packagers.
- Demonstrated leadership with strong negotiating and influence management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate across the entire organization & all levels of management.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing costs and product P&L’s
- Track record of developing and implementing cost savings via continuous improvement.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the commercialization process.
- Strong understanding of business continuity & risk profile analysis.
- Preferred prior CPG background and experience.
- Knowledge of engineering / manufacturing related operations (Production-Processing, Packaging, Controls, Mechanical, and Electrical) or strong financial analytical experience in an operations environment preferred.
- Critical/analytical/strategic/creative thinking; ability to communicate to all levels of the organization effectively, organize, prioritize and interpret; ability to direct department activities in a team-oriented environment.
