Job Title
Director for Student Diversity and Inclusion

Nature of Work
Provide leadership and oversight in developing institutional programs that promote a culture of diversity and inclusion. Create supportive campus climate for underrepresented students and a more inclusive student experience. Responsible for shaping and advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives in support of the college’s values, goals, and priorities with an emphasis on promoting retention and degree attainment.

Examples of Work Performed
1. Work collaboratively with the campus community to create an environment that supports a safe, welcoming, and inclusive teaching and learning environment.
2. Serve as a mentor and support system for students from underrepresented communities.
3. Develop and manage agreements and pathway programs with key stakeholders (i.e. Little Priest Tribal College, Nebraska Indian Community College).
4. Advise student groups associated with underrepresented communities (i.e. Black Student Association, International Club, PRIDE, Native American Student Alliance).
5. Perform all duties associated with the NCAA Athletic Diversity and Inclusion Designee. Designee will be the point person for all diversity and inclusion–related information between conference offices, campuses, and the NCAA.
6. Manage the International Programs Office by supporting students, engaging the community, and developing and managing agreements.
7. Work collaboratively with the College’s leadership to develop strategies for enhancing student recruitment and retention of underrepresented communities.
8. Provided diversity and cultural awareness training and serve as a contact person on diversity and cultural related issues.
9. Convene and support the President’s Council on Diversity.
10. Manage departmental budget and oversight for contracted services (cultural & diversity programs and activities).
11. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree and 3 years of relative experience.
  • Experience leading and managing diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, preferably in a university setting.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a commitment to being detailed oriented.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong programming experience.
