The incumbent will join a group of talented Engineers, Scientists, and Innovators with tremendous top-side potential devoted to solving novel technological problems with national defense implications in the fields of Cybersecurity, Autonomy, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Naval Architecture among others. General Description:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Director of Advanced Materials; the incumbent will oversee the day-to-day activities of the company’s Advanced Materials portfolio to ensure that the portfolio is performing optimally to meet customer and growth expectations. The Director of Advanced Materials collaborate with other Technical Leads across the company to provide advanced materials expertise for projects outside of the portfolio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with Program Managers to execute project plans and delivery commitments.
- Works with Business Strategy team to identify and bring in new work related to the Advanced Materials portfolio.
- Ensures technical product quality for work being performed within the Advanced Materials Portfolio.
- Serves as mentor or Principal Investigator to key development personnel, assisting in the execution of duties upon request.
- Collaborates and work closely with senior engineering leadership and executive leadership in defining and executing long-term technology roadmaps.
- Implements innovative technologies within the Company, providing support and leadership to other company technology portfolio leads and facilitate continuous evolution in the frontend and backend of development teams.
- Executes Company procedures, policies, and associated tools in order to develop processes that are more efficient and ensure conformity with the Company’s policies and overall objectives.
- Communicates and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to managers and lead change management, as necessary.
- Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing cross-functional teams and engineering supervisors, as well as demonstrated knowledge and interest in new and emerging technologies.
- Exceptional communication skills both in written and in verbal form.
- Customer and results oriented.
- Highly organized and analytical, creative, and strategic thinker, and an ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
Other Position requirements:
- Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.
- Must be a U.S Citizen with a SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with inflatable textiles or textile engineering.
- Experience with polymer additive manufacturing.
