SUMMARY


The Director, CEC Payroll will report directly to the Vice President, HR CEC COE. The Director, CEC HR Payroll position is responsible for working within the CEC to support all payroll functions and initiatives impacting our engagement center associates and sites. They will focus on delivering HR payroll support services for the Area Directors of Human Resources within the CECs. They will function as a critical member of the CEC HR Operations Support team and will work closely with numerous internal teams and site-based stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of payroll processes. This position will manage the relationship between the CECs, the MBS or local payroll teams, Finance, and all other internal and external stakeholders involved in the payroll process.

The role is responsible for ensuring payroll compliance on a day-to-day basis, and has overall responsibility of both the payroll applications, in conjunction with the HR function, ensuring that the policies and procedures meets Marriott’s legal requirements and is compliant with statutory legislation and employment law. The Payroll Processing team is responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of payroll as well as all time and attendance processes, systems, procedures, etc. related to payroll. The Dir CEC Payroll generally works with considerable independence, developing timelines to accomplish communication objectives in alignment with broader business objectives.


CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

HR Processes and Communications

  • The role is focused on planning and communications to engagement centers globally to provide direction on core payroll policies, programs, and processes
  • Assist in the development and execution of approach for projects driving the ongoing payroll alignment and transformation of the CECs.
  • Work closely with other cross-functional leads as required to ensure the strategies communicated and activities reach all stakeholders
  • Partner with the communications team to provide accurate, complete and effective updates on changes and projects within the company to all site stakeholders to keep them informed of company developments
  • They will be instrumental in deploying tactics to successfully achieve milestones and objectives of the payroll projects related to HR support of the CECs

Core Work Activities

  • Support partnerships with payroll providers, ensuring contract compliance and day to day management of these relationships
  • Liaise with the CEC Payroll specialists, ensuring the development of key plans and priorities for the team to deliver against
  • Responsible for the oversight of the payroll systems to ensure compliance and set up is in line with Marriott policy and legislation, in conjunction with the local teams
  • Responsible for leading and managing consistent and timely delivery of agreed key performance indicators for the Payroll function, including reporting, communication and proactively utilizing our systems to help support the sites with weekly / monthly / quarterly payroll tracking
  • Drive the governance process around Payroll, ensuring guidelines are kept up to date and clear roles and responsibilities defined across the organization
  • Ensure compliance of Payroll Systems and Processes with legal requirements
  • Approver for various system and reporting requirements including, but not limited to, system configuration changes, submissions to Tax Authorities, processes by exception, payroll payment release and salary sacrifice schemes
  • Reporting to CEC Senior Leadership
  • Manage key relationships with Area Directors of HR, Compensation & Benefits, Entity Management and Tax, MBS and the Law Department
  • Partner with Compensation & Benefits on various benefits schemes, ensuring accurate implementation and management
  • Ensure compliance with all required regulations
  • Ensure assistance and support is provided for all payroll related audits
  • Support ongoing training and development for payroll specialists
  • Supports processing of global CEC incentives ensuring compliance with local laws, development of additional pay codes, and creation of standardized processing where applicable
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Vice President, CEC HR COE and VP Finance

Partnering with Key Stakeholders

  • Discuss and provide reporting on payroll for the CEC Senior HR Leadership
  • Work with site DHRs and Site Leaders payroll policies, practices, audits, or new process deployment
  • Presents ideas, expectations, and information in a concise, organized manner.
  • Uses problem solving methodology for decision making and follow up
  • Maintains positive working relations with internal customers and department managers
  • Manages time effectively and conducts activities in an organized manner

Other

  • Supports CEC initiatives through a variety of means and performs special projects as requested

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • At least 5 years of HR generalist experience with a preference for payroll experience within Marriott International
  • Experience in a managerial role as an HR specialist (staffing, development, organizational effectiveness, etc.) preferred
  • Experience operating at the regional level is preferred


Skills

  • Experience with mHUB, ATLAS, or other MI payroll systems
  • Strong consulting skills and ability to interface with senior business leaders
  • Strong program and organizational skills are essential
  • Solid measurement skills related to assessment of information, initiatives and strategies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to articulate and gain support from others
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with regional team members, CEC Sr. Leadership, Site level management and CEC and Corporate COEs
  • Strong understanding of property operations and the market
  • Strong presentation skills required

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent HR experience required

California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $107,850.00 to $239,250.00 annually.

Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $107,850.00 to $217,498.00 annually.

New York City & Westchester County, NY Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $130,500.00 to $239,250.00 annually.

Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $107,850.00 to $239,250.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and restricted stock units/stock grants. Employees will accrue 0.4616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
