The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The Director of Development for University Projects (DODUP) position will focus on cultivating and securing resources to support key goal areas of the current comprehensive campaign, specifically capital projects (academics and athletics) and the student experience(ex. mental health and counseling). Furthermore, this position will pivot in the future to new university wide philanthropic priorities as needed.

The DODUP will be a direct report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development and work across the university on projects of direct impact to the campaign. These projects currently fall primarily, but are not limited to the College of Engineering and Technology, the College of Business, the Division of Athletics, and the Division of Student Affairs.

The DODUP will spend the majority of their time managing a portfolio of donors and prospective donors. The portfolio will be weighted to the qualification stages of the donor cycle (70-80%) and the DODUP will work to cultivate and solicit major gifts with a focus on capital needs identified in the campaign feasibility study and case for support. The DODUP will utilize best practices for development including documentation of all actions per the division’s prospect management policies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 3-5 years experience in non-profit, higher education, or relevant development/sales/customer facing role.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree
5 years non-profit or higher education fundraising experience
Experience working in capital campaigns with a focus on “bricks and mortar” capital projects
Experience working with Raiser’s Edge CRM
Experience in fundraising communications and marketing.
Development experience in Engineering, Business, or Athletics
