We are seeking a Director of Employment Services to oversee operations in Syracuse, NY. The Director of Employment Services leads a team responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain and maintain successful employment. You will support your team with day-to-day operations and challenges to achieve our programmatic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage employment programs and partnerships with stakeholders including OPWDD and Pre-ETS SEMP, ACCESS-VR
- Define contract requirements for vocational and employment activities with appropriate agencies
- Manage contract procurement and disbursements for community-based programs
- Network with business leaders to develop employment, volunteer, and internship opportunities
- Provide training, assessment and counseling on the methodology used to teach individuals the skills needed for employment
- Assist with training individuals to perform on-the-job tasks and work routines
- Survey job openings and facilitate interviews with potential employers and participants
- Build a support network between individuals, community members and potential employers
- Assist with business development, fundraising, and grant development for employment programs
- Ensure program documentation and billable records are completed accurately and timely
- Maintain a high-quality program in accordance with state and federal compliance guidelines
- Perform all duties necessary to meet state approved objectives and requirements
- May be required to perform the responsibilities of an Employment Specialist or Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, a Human Services related field or in Education with 2 years of experience delivering and/or supervising educational or vocational services OR a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field or Education with 4 years of experience delivering and/or supervising educational or vocational services
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Proof of COVID vaccination required
- Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
- Knowledgeable in the areas of OPWDD / ACCESS-VR / Pre-ETS SEMP
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
- Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
Working Conditions:
- Travel is required utilizing your own vehicle or company provided vehicles
- Work in residential programs, day programs, and in the community
- Transport individuals utilizing your own vehicle or company provided vehicles
- Schedule may change due to business needs and may include evening and weekend hours
- Overtime may be required due to business needs
- Frequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion may be required
- May be required to lift or move 25+ pounds
- May assist with wheelchair transfer of non-ambulatory participants
- May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases
