Job description
Primary Purpose:
Directs the evaluation, coordination, and implementation of district programs and supervises the Data Services department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of computer network, hardware, and software applications
- Knowledge of computer applications development and implementation
- Ability to manage budget and personnel; coordinate district function
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to implement policy
- Ability to interpret data
- High level experience with word processors, spreadsheets, presentation tools, and databases

Instructional Management
The director promotes improvement of instructional management through activities such as the following:
- Develop and implement plans to address information technology needs, including evaluation of software and management of information relating to data processing and operational support services
- Develop and implement plans to address campus information management needs, including evaluation of student registration, scheduling, student information systems training, etc. relating to data processing and campus administration support services.
- Direct, plan, and coordinate the development of software and support of all applications including the operation of computer equipment and related data processing activities.
- Manage, direct, and assign priorities and personnel to major projects to ensure attainment of district and department goals and objectives.
- Oversee the implementation of staff development in the area of information management and technology; make presentations as needed.
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of information services and implement district and campus procedural changes based on the findings.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Document program needs and ensure that programs are cost-effective and funds are managed wisely.
- Participate in contract negotiations for computer software, maintenance, and related services.
- Develop professional development and improvement plans to ensure exemplary operations in the data services area.
- Recruit, train, and supervise personnel and make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.
- Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communication; develops and maintains technical documentation related to assigned functions and responsibilities.
- Participates in long range planning; directs and assigns priorities and personnel to projects; attends growth activities; performs other duties as assigned.

- Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovations in information management, technology services, and State of Texas student and business data requirements.

- Continually maintain and demonstrate an attitude consistent of the concept and goal of achieving outstanding customer service levels and customer satisfaction while driving towards Del Valle ISD initiatives
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
- Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately
- Shall comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
- Shall comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises Systems and Data Services staff
Equipment:
- Computer, scanner, printers, video equipment, sound systems, projection system, digital equipment, handheld devices, wireless hubs, calculator, telephone, copier, fax machine, answering machine, and shredder
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Works irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends
- May report to various campuses within the district for a full work day
- Occasional statewide travel
- Works with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
- Continual standing, walking, lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, and kneeling
- Limited exposure to hot and cold temperatures
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces
- Frequent district wide travel and occasional statewide travel

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $272.53 - $326.38 per day
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
