Our Brentwood Center for Health and Rehabilitation located in Yarmouth, ME., is looking for a new Director of our Memory Care Unit. We are a 78 bed skilled nursing facility part of the National Healthcare Associates family.

Primary Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for meeting National’s standards and practices, along with state and federal regulations as they relate to memory care and programming. You are also responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of all programs, ensuring that they are therapeutic for the residents and maximize their quality of life.
- Must possess a passion for working with the senior population and improving their quality of life
- Designed and implemented a diverse program calendar based on resident’s interests & abilities
- Plans, schedule, lead and monitor, recreational programs to meet the needs of all of our residents
- Coordinates transportation for outings and events outside of the community, which may include driving a community motor vehicle
- Successfully work within budgetary guidelines regarding entertainment, supplies, and labor hours
- Hire, train, schedule, supervise, direct and evaluate the performance of all Memory Care program associates
- Ensure Memory Care Program meets all state regulations and best practices
- Assists in providing dementia in-services to all associates that relate to dementia
- Train and monitor caregiving team’s dementia-oriented approach; coach as needed
- Provide family education on issues or topics related to Dementia Care and the Memory Care Neighborhood
- Provide outstanding customer service to all residents, family members, responsible persons, and visitors of residents in the community
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:
- Degree in social work, nursing, psychology, gerontology or therapeutic recreation, or related field. Non-degreed individuals with at least 5 years of direct dementia-related resident experience may be considered
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience within LTC or a senior living environment specializing in Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases in a “hands-on” supervisory capacity (required)
- Is a Certified Dementia Practitioner CDP® or will complete the necessary steps to become certified within the first 90 days of employment
