Transfer Opportunity for qualified employees of New York State: have permanent status as an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric (formerly Mental Hygiene Nursing Program Coordinator, M-1) and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR
In the event that a canvass of the eligible list for Assistant Director Nursing 1 (Psychiatric) in this location results in less than three candidates willing to accept the position, the agency may consider making a provisional appointment. To be considered for provisional appointment, candidates must meet the following qualifications: Candidate must be a qualified employee of New York State, have a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; a bachelor’s degree in nursing; and one year of service as a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (Psychiatric).
In the event that a provisional appointment is made, the provisional employee will need to successfully complete the competitive examination for Assistant Director Nursing 1 (Psychiatric) when next given and be reachable for appointment on the resulting eligible list. If the provisional employee does not pass the competitive examination, or is not reachable for appointment, they may not be able to be retained in the position.
- Provide administrative and clinical supervision and oversight to 14 Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (Psychiatric), Grade 22, positions.
- Implement and provide evidence-based practices and trainings to all nursing staff.
- Assist with the development of educational training for nursing staff specific to OASAS ATC needs.
- Develop a standardized nursing orientation and annual ATC nursing trainings.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance activities and nursing standards required by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and other regulatory agencies.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for all ATC nursing initiatives.
- Create a Nurse Development Program for the RN to BSN initiative.
- Collaborate with the ATCs, the Bureau of Human Resources Management, and the Bureau of Addiction Treatment Centers regarding nursing recruitment, retention, and evaluation efforts.
- Provide best practice standardization for the OASAS provider system.
- Travel to the 12 individual ATCs statewide to coordinate nursing services with facility supervisors and directors to ensure quality, effective, and integrated care and treatment services.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external organizations to maximize resources and implement nursing program goals.
- Represent the nursing discipline on various committees and provide input to the Director Nursing 3 (Psychiatric) to integrate nursing services into facility operations and service delivery; and may act as the Director Nursing 3 (Psychiatric) in their absence.

- Plus $20,000 or $35,000 geographic pay differential, depending on location
