Wage: $80-85K

Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Health Service Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our community, and as may be directed by the Executive Director and Regional Nurse Consultant to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a good rapport with all parties involved with the service plan to ensure that a team effort is achieved in developing a comprehensive service plan.
  • Review the 24-hour report and health monitoring and make recommendations as needed.
  • Coordinate services amongst the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Ensure that all personnel involved in providing care to the resident are aware of the resident’s service plan. Ensure that nursing personnel refer to the resident’s service plan prior to administering daily care to the resident.
  • Implement and follow company policies and guidelines.
  • Review IR reports and assist with the investigation and recommendations as needed.
  • Complete Alert Log and Alert reporting.  Follow guidelines for Alert Charting criteria.
  • Review all physician orders timely.
  • Complete Change in condition assessments per company policy.
  • Complete Quarterly assessments per company policy.
  • Complete admission assessments required by Registered Nurse per company policy.
  • Participate in developing the Service Plan when residents receive health services. Make recommendations for service plans as needed.
  • Attend and participate in care conferences as invited by Executive Director.
  • Assist with the assessment and selection of residents for admission to the community, if applicable
  • Maintain confidentiality with team, residents and family members.
  • Work well with others and promote teamwork.
  • Assure that all residents’ rights are known and followed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e., med rooms, nurses’ stations, resident rooms, etc.).
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
  • Communicates with the medical team, nursing personnel, and other department directors.
  • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Is involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, COVID19, AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the residents’ needs.
  • As part of being an Ovation team member you may be recorded or photographed as part of marketing campaigns and quality assurance. You will be asked to consent to this as part of your new hire packet

Education

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience

  • Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care community, or other related health care community.
  • Must have, as a minimum six (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.

Specific Requirements

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state.
  • Must be able to proficiently operate a computer. Must possess basic computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this community, which include a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the community.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
