Summary
The Director Operations is responsible for operationally focused activities of a $75-$125 MM profit center unit of Fleet Management Systems (FMS). As such, the incumbent is responsible for overall profitability measured against people management, investment and revenue management, and optimal utilization of assets. The incumbent will be assigned to a Ryder Business Unit. This assignment includes assuming operational responsibility for the entire BU, including direct profit and loss accountability for all branches; maintenance management; management of the assigned personnel; managing customer relationships and key customer metrics; management of key quality and compliance metrics; and management of key asset related metrics.
Essential Functions
- Customer Management -Managing operations-related initiatives to ensure the highest levels of service and retention of customers and developing and maintaining relationships with key BU customers, and actively engaging with Sales organization on customer-related initiatives
- Financial & Administrative Management -Full P&L responsibility for BU business/operations managing maintenance costs and budgets, and holding all branch locations responsible for meeting maintenance cost budgets and overall profit responsibilities
- Labor Management -Effectively managing total labor hours applied in maintenance and related service activities for all domiciled vehicles, including effective management of in sourced vs. outsourced labor
- Execute performance management and develop and manage direct reports
- Manage all administrative processes within business unit
- Fleet and Facility Asset Management -Overseeing operations-related asset management activities and metrics (e.g, in-service cycle times, out service cycle times, out of service and sub %
- Working with the Corporate Real Estate organization to optimize facility asset management, infrastructure and related costs, including consulting and negotiating with vendors, landlords, real estate agencies and city zoning agencies, etc. Quality and Compliance Management -Meeting or exceed all requirement of the Company's quality-related scorecards
- Maintain safe environmentally compliant work practices, conditions and facilities
- Ensure quality of shop operations and appearance
- Communicate and demonstrate support of corporate initiatives

- Utilizing sound business/process disciplines and adhering to Company defined Standard Operating Procedures and other initiatives to maximize labor productivity and efficiency while meeting or exceeding all customer quality-related requirements
- Possesses strong product knowledge

- In-depth knowledge of P&L statements and related source documents advanced required
- Broad knowledge of Maintenance Operations, Rental, Asset Management, Sales Management and Safety Transportation Industry knowledge and experience preferred advanced preferred
- Labor Management -Effectively managing total labor hours applied in maintenance and related service activities for all domiciled vehicles, including effective management of in sourced vs outsourced labor advanced required

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in Business, Operations, Finance or other related degree
- Ten (10) years or more in demonstrated successful leadership of Operations (internal or external to Ryder), with a minimum of 4 years successful management in diverse environments required
- In-depth knowledge of P&L statements and related source documents advanced required
- Broad knowledge of Maintenance Operations, Rental, Asset Management, Sales Management and Safety Transportation Industry knowledge and experience preferred advanced preferred
- Labor Management -Effectively managing total labor hours applied in maintenance and related service activities for all domiciled vehicles, including effective management of in sourced vs. outsourced labor advanced required
- Utilizing sound business/process disciplines and adhering to Company defined Standard Operating Procedures and other initiatives to maximize labor productivity and efficiency while meeting or exceeding all customer quality-related requirements advanced required
DOT Regulated - No
CO/NY/CA applicants - This position has a salary range of 120,000 to 160,000 plus 30% bonus.
