WOW Logistics is now hiring for a Director of Operations! (Washington/Idaho)
As a crucial leader, reporting to the Vice President - Operations, The Director of Operations (based in the area of Seattle, WA) will provide overall direction and oversight in the areas of operational performance, P&L management, customer relations, continuous improvement, and employee development. This position will oversee distribution centers in the Tukwila, Washington and Jerome, Idaho.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the operations function in conjunction with business growth, introduction of new operational systems, meeting organizational financial objectives, and meeting organizational goals in relation to safety, quality, and timely delivery of products or services
- Directs the operations of warehouse and distribution center managers to achieve company objectives and meet customer expectations
- Focuses on continuous improvement and makes decisions about enhancing value, service, effectiveness, and profitability
- Assists with development of organization's policies, practices, and attainment of operating goals
- Assesses and assists in upgrading the management talent base within operations to achieve growth and meet market needs
- Coordinates needed support to operations areas through intradepartmental interface for smooth workflow and cost-efficient service
- Assists in coordinating efforts between support departments within the organization
- Contributes to the overall short and long-range planning process and in the establishment and assessment of the organization's annual operating budget
- Directly manages budget and P&L for operations
- Evaluates distribution projects including productivity, inventory, manpower and workflows
- Plans, prepares, controls, monitors, and forecasts organization's direct and/or indirect budgets
- Directs the capital expenditure and asset redeployment activities
- Ensures attainment of efficient and economical performance in relation to profit and year-end goals
- Participates in the investigation and implementation of new services, and product or systems technologies to meet the organization's objectives
- Establishes, implements, revises, and maintains policies and procedures related to operations with Human Resources
- Oversees compliance of established policies
- Holds employees accountable to customer and company SOPs
- Writes and conducts employee performance reviews
- Develops work plans ensuring appropriate staffing levels - managing labor costs, overtime and retention
- Ability to interact and clearly communicate with customers, as well as lead customer-facing meetings
- Directs programs and procedures that lead to inventory accuracy, leads team in problem solving exercises to identify the root causes of inventory discrepancies
- Analyzes, develops, trains, and implements continuous improvement programs
- Enjoys working in a fast paced, high energy, roll-up-the-sleeves environment
Qualifications:
- College Degree preferred in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Operations Management
- 5+ years of warehouse management experience, including experience with storage and handling of food grade products
- 5+ years’ experience with multi-site operations
- 5+ years of experience managing multiple employees
- 5+ years of experience with financial accountability
- Proven development and implementation of continuous improvement programs
- Excellent project management, team building and communication skills
- Extensive knowledge in Warehouse Management System
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be ready to dive into details, but also take a higher strategic view of the business when necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
