Job description
We are currently adding to our sales team and searching for a dynamic Director of Sales, who will be responsible for generating new business and growing existing accounts, for corporate, social and wedding catering business, in order to maximize revenue and profits for the hotel. Looking for someone who has the heart and tenacity to hunt and discover new business for the hotel. The DoubleTree by Hilton Silver Spring Washington DC North is a beautiful 231 room, NEWLY RENOVATED,full service hotel with 15,000 SF of flexible meeting space.
Summary: Oversees and manages sales staff and reservations to ensure maximum revenue, promotional coverage and marketing opportunities are achieved, by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Maintains and promotes a team work environment with effective and clear communication amongst co-workers.*
2. Ensures best client service is being made available through communication amongst the team, cross training within the department and appropriate office coverage.*
3. Works with sales managers to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation of this strategy for the segment.*
4. Works with management team to create and implement a sales plan addressing revenue, customers and the market for the segment.*
5. Sets example through professional, friendly attitude towards clients and co-workers, timely response to clients and co-workers needs and observance of sales office standard.*
6. Ensure hotel meets or exceeds budgeted goals.*
7. Follows and tracks company cross-sell procedures.*
8. Utilizes company profile databases to determine geographic areas for travel agent calls while maintaining top and existing travel agent accounts.*
9. Organizes travel agent month and travel agent appreciation rates for slow months.*
10. Assists with the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external.*
11. Creates a focus on attracting new business.*
12. Attends and contributes to the monthly sales strategy meeting.*
13. Updates and owns the sales strategy & sales plan with the general manager.*
14. Reviews and approves any special corporate negotiated rates.*
15. Provides positive and aggressive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential (e.g., sets example with personal booking goals).*
16. Leads on-property sales functions to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel sales objectives.*
17. Recommends monthly room nights target goals for sales team members.*
18. Participates in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.*
19. Develops and sends informative press releases to targeted lists highlighting all activities and promotions.*
20. Maintains and expands corporate incentive programs via direct mail, personal visits etc.*
21. Oversees and ensures the updating of rates, promotions on hotel website, and online travel agents without any rate parity.*
22. Handles training of sales managers and staff.*
23. Follows and promotes hotel standards with guests, co-workers.*
24. Evaluates and drives the hotel’s participation in the various sales channels, market sales, event booking centers, electronic lead channels, etc.*
25. Monitors all day to day activities of direct reports.*
26. Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).*
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages two subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 10 employees in the sales and marketing departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, accounting, internet, and project management software, human resources and contact management systems, as well as PowerPoint.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; and eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
