GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Training is a member of the organization’s Project Management Office who provides guidance and assists Urban Strategies’ Refugio Transitional Foster Care and Residential Shelter Programs in the implementation of specialized training for program staff and maintains oversight of training requirements. This position is responsible for training compliance and professional development required to meet the needs of the Office of Refugee and Resettlement’s Unaccompanied Children’s program. The Director of Training reports directly to the Director of Policy Compliance and PSA and is responsible for ensuring contractual training requirements for program personnel in collaboration and coordination with other program management office directors and TFC and Shelter program leadership. The Director of Training will ensure delivery of training services utilizing evidence-based curriculums, while ensuring consistent instruction in the course material and promoting a positive learning environment to meet learning objectives. This is a full-time, exempt position subject to work after 5:00 pm, weekends, holidays and be on call.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Learns all training content to support the delivery needs as required and in accordance with organization’s policies, principles and ethics of the profession, contract/cooperative agreement governing policies and procedures, program guidance updates and any applicable state or federal regulations.- Provides oversight and/or direct training on trauma, child welfare practices, organization and ORR policies and procedures, human trafficking, child development, health and safety work practices, among other topics
- Analyzes reports and data from RELIAS learning management system and records employee training and credentialing requirements (Licenses, certifications, documents, etc. that have deadlines and time-sensitive requirements).
- Responsible for setting up training tracks in RELIAs and monitoring and entering needed documents within the RELIAS system for programs.
- Coordinates and supports the Program Trainer(s) to ensure the delivery of training to, and maintain compliance for, the program staff based on approved curriculum/psycho-education information, and/or evidence-based, best practice material to new and existing staff
- Responsible for the execution of training courses (in-person, virtual, or simulated environment) required to meet the needs of the Unaccompanied Children’s programs with staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborates with Program Management Office and Program Leadership to oversee trainer onboarding, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Works closely with Program Directors, Trainers, PSA Compliance Managers, Human Resources and/or leadership designee to ensure all program staff are compliant with the organization’s policies, state and federal training requirements and mandates.
- Ensure all training materials are current and training materials are revised to reflect changes in requirements, etc.
- Ensures Program Trainer(s) is well-versed in current requirements and can convey correct information and address any questions that may be posed by staff being trained.
- Develops and implements systems to maintain records on employees training, order/purchasing of training material, training equipment inventory, and compliance activities.
- Manages oversight of training records and/or data from learning management systems in collaboration with Program Leadership and Program Trainer(s), or designee and communicates to program management and Human Resource when any personnel is out of compliance or overdue on training or course completion.
- Identifies and develops training compliance policies and procedures for programs in coordination with the Program Management Office, Program Leadership, and/o Human Resource
- Provides guidance and recommendations related to training department to Program Leadership, which includes delivery of training services, training equipment/material, training data collection and ensuring/monitoring contract performance.
- Maintains oversight of a training activity calendar related to overall training compliance, New Employee Orientation training, bi-annual or annual required training target dates, and new training requirements.
- Coordinates the preparation of reports, including monthly or annual reports as necessary, for monitoring activities.
- Participates in short-and long-range planning to maintain compliance with all training requirements; develops and implements projects to assist program in accomplishment of established organizational objectives.
- Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies in accordance with organizational goals.
- Establishes a professional working relationship with onsite Program Leadership, Trainer(s), or designee.
- Remains current with all changes and updates in contract policy, specifically around training policies, and supports the program’s training department in meeting contract and relevant state and/or federal requirements.
- Attends certification and re-certification trainings for First Aid/CPR, non-violent crisis intervention, relevant ORR trainings, and other certifications as deemed appropriate by Project Management Office leadership, immediate supervisor, or designee.
- Attending all required organizational training.
- Performs other essential tasks or miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and/or REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited intuition in education, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science- Three (3) years of experience in a childcare program, residential youth program, or similar program for children and adolescents
- Three (3) years of experience as a trainer or working on projects demonstrating advanced levels of developing training responsibilities.
- Cleared criminal background check from appropriate entity.
- Cleared child abuse check.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel as needed.
- Excellent presentation skills as well as oral and written communication skills required.
- Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and Microsoft Office products required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE and/or REQUIREMENTS
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in education, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science
