Job Summary: Consider joining the Metal Exchange family as the Director, Procurement. Our growing company is searching for an experienced candidate. Someone to be responsible for leading all procurement activities throughout the global organization with the mission of supporting the company’s business strategy by developing and managing a supply chain that enables a sustainable competitive advantage. While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates that do not necessarily have all the qualifications but have sufficient experience and/or relevant talent.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Leads the development of the procurement strategy and results to ensure clear understanding and alignment with MEC Companies.
- Provides leadership to the procurement organization, ensuring that all teams share a common vision to deliver the best customer experience.
- Creates collaborative business plans with strategic suppliers, develops negotiation strategies, and directs the execution of strategic programs.
- Provides direction and oversees that the group develop and maintain positive supplier relationships.
- Actively manages system-wide purchasing activities.
- Works with leaders in the organization to anticipate potential obstacles in the supply chain and generate ideas for improving overall operations and logistics processes.
- Anticipates future trends related to our overall operations to maximize opportunities and sustain our high level of customer care.
- Partners with administrative functions to build strong and deep relationships with Finance, Legal, HR, and Information Technology.
- Establish a culture of open communication, accountability, and timely decision-making.
- Develop, implement and monitor annual goals/ objectives and budgets for strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, construction equipment planning and procurement, and purchased services that support the missions and objectives of MEC.
- Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes performance standards to develop a high performing team
- Define policies, methods, standards, and tools that guide and support the optimal functioning of the department, across all MEC facilities.
- Approves supplier contract negotiations, guaranteeing the attainment of the most advantageous pricing, terms, discounts, allowances, quality, delivery, and service.
- Establish and leverage analytics and reporting functions to enable operational improvements.
- Ensures appropriate controls and compliance processes and tools are effectively working to mitigate risk and fraud.
- Directs and executes budgetary cost reduction programs and initiatives
- Sets the example and conducts training sessions for negotiations, contract and financial reviews, business analytics, change management and general management, and is a role model of ethical behavior.
- Oversee the final negotiations for system vendor contracts and provide support and consultation to CFO and management staff in the negotiation of all major contracts.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Desired: MBA in Business
- Experience
- 10 years of manufacturing purchasing experience
- Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Detailed knowledge of the strategic sourcing procurement lifecycle and procurement best practices and methods to optimize category profitability and supplier performance
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Computer Science, or related discipline preferred. The preferred candidate will have an MBA or other advanced degree
- Ability to work with diverse groups of internal and external management and associates to adhere to project and contractual obligations
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities while meeting deadlines
- Track record of influencing the external environment based on knowledge of social, political, regulatory, and economic issues affecting businesses domestically and globally
- Capable to articulate a vision, engage and mobilize employees around that vision, and deliver superior value
- Driving long-term, profitable, and sustainable growth in multiple functions, businesses, sectors and markets
- Strong experience with ERP systems
- In-depth knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes and best practices.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution
- Leadership in change management
- Expertise in contracting and negotiations
- Good written and spoken language skills beyond English preferred Mandarin or Local Southeast Asian language
- Prepare for (and attend) design sessions, workshops
- Work with FF&E surplus inventory for use and implementation into current projects
- Validate all contractual agreements
- Understand the needs of company and translate these needs into actions to drive results
- Knowledge and experience with software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Minitab, PPT, MIS) including presentation and database application
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorships are not available
