Job Duties

Operational Leader

• Leads the development and improvement of systems and processes within the SCTCT program to maximize exceptional outcomes in patient safety and satisfaction.
• Manages the SCTCT program staff including Quality Manager, Clinical Manager, RN Coordinators, and SCTCT Registry Analysts.
• Oversees the SCTCT program staff by recruiting for openings, managing performance and expectations, and ensuring employee awareness and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with the Mays Cancer Center Clinic, Infusion Center, Stem Cell Laboratory and Inpatient Unit to provide exceptional care to all SCTCT patients and their family members.
• Develops the annual budget and establishes realistic, actionable annual financial goals and actively participates in and supervises growth of the program.
• Manages stem cell product search and acquisition for all transplant recipients including domestic and international search process and timely delivery of products to UTHSA.
• Works collaboratively with UTHSA legal department and Cellular Therapy Manufacturers to develop and maintain Master Service Agreements.
• Manages initial and routine Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) training for all SCTCT providers in accordance with each Cellular Therapy Manufacturer’s policies.

Quality

• Oversees preparation and distribution of quarterly quality reports.
• Oversees the SCTCT team in preparation for the required certification by the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) as well as the FDA and other regulatory agencies.
• Ensures that all quality management policy procedures follow FACT standards and all applicable state and government laws and regulations prior to implementation.
• Oversees periodic reviews and audits of clinical program activities to ensure continued compliance with all written SOPs and policies.
• Monitors and manages clinical processes including compliance with clinical policies and nursing practice, adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals, maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards, PQRI, and other clinical measures of performance.
• Evaluates current and new systems by benchmarking patient outcomes against other high performing SCTCT programs and identify areas for improvement.

Educator/Research Facilitator

• Collaborates with the Mays Cancer Center Hematology to facilitate patient enrollment in eligible clinical trials, obtain IRB approval, and open new clinical trials.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of patient education materials for the SCTCT program.
• Assists in development of SCTCT education and training for new nurses within the cancer clinic, infusion center and inpatient units.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Master’s degree in a related field required.

Experience:

Four years of progressive administrative leadership and experience with bone marrow transplant (BMT) programs required.

Licensure/Certification:

RN-C - Registered Nurse, Certified (Area Of Specialty)

Oncology Nurse Certification (ONC)
