Job description
Summary:
The Dispatch Planner collaborates with all necessary and relevant parties to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of LSPI products and services to customers. This includes product deliveries, equipment moves, and all other delivery and non-delivery requirements of the fleet.
The dispatch planner position will office at the Granite City Terminal which is in America's Central Port, 1301 West First Street, Suite 1A, Granite City, Il.
Responsibilities:
- Create, implement, and follow through to completion the daily and longer-term route planning schedules for assigned sites. Provide updates to all relevant parties, respond to disruptions of the plan (delays, inclement weather, cancellations, volume changes, etc.) in a timely and professional manner to insure final completion. Communicate dispatch requirements and paperwork to drivers for all movements.
- Collaborate with Account Specialists to plan customer deliveries.
- Work together with the maintenance manager to plan for all equipment repairs, maintenance, inspections, and all other requirements per DOT, internal, and other regulations and/or guidelines.
- Work with terminal manager and LSPI personnel to address/resolve customer issues or complaints.
- Communicate with field service representatives (FSRs) any site equipment issues noticed and reported by drivers.
- Comply with all internal and external record retention requirements, completing necessary documentation and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide on-call support as needed and directed after hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of DOT/FHWA/HM regulations, including DOT hours of service.
- Knowledge of fleet operations, loading procedures, and safety/environmental regulations.
- Effective planning and organizational skills, including ability to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of individuals including managers, drivers, and customers (verbal, written, listening).
- Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Strong analytical skills. Ability to make sound decisions and take appropriate action in a timely manner.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated ability to use other Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Excellent, regular, and predictable attendance.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in the transportation industry
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
- Dispatching experience
- Chemical tank experience preferred.
