Job description
The Integrated Alcohol Service is a community-based team which will deliver counselling and psycho-educational interventions with adults with problematic alcohol use, provide family support, and develop integrated alcohol treatment pathways through a central referral service. This team will be integrated with Alcohol Liaison Nurses based in the acute hospital setting, who will liaise between the hospital and the community-based team and enhance the integrative aspect of the service.The Senior Addiction Counsellor appointed will work with the Addiction Service and Voluntary and Community clinical teams.
The Alcohol Hub will operate through a harm reduction approach to alcohol problem use rather than an abstinence-orientated approach.
The service is multidisciplinary in composition, is evidence based and offers a variety of interventions, all of which should are delivered in a locally accessible manner. It is envisaged that the service will evolve over time and consequently, all team members will need to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility.
