Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC) is recruiting for Donor Relations Coordinator position (DRC), in the Donor Services Division. Under general supervision from a designated administrator, the DRC will educate and assist donors at the Hoxworth Blood Center Neighborhood Donor Centers and Mobile Operations.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for all activities in the reception area (e.g., blood donor center/mobile operations or classroom), including greeting and assisting the donors, computer data entry and processing telephone calls.
- Assist with opening and setting up activities of the registration area.
- Communicate directly with donors, following customer service guidelines.
- Assist with and manage donor flow to enhance the donor experience.
- Reschedule donors for future blood donation according to a specific benchmark to be determined by the organization.
- Receive and direct telephone calls, relaying messages accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide appropriate information to the donors to ensure understanding.
- Process collections (blood bag setup, sealing units).
- Assist with and perform quality control functions; maintain and calibrate equipment.
- Assist in set up and dismantling of blood collections equipment and materials as all operations.
- Assist with cleanup of Mobile Operations and Neighborhood Donor Centers. Clean and maintain equipment (e.g. Donor beds, working tables, blood tubing sealers, work stations, etc.).
- Work varying hours including weekends and rotating holidays. May work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call. May travel overnight.
- Perform other duties as assigned. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
- Six (6) months of customer service experience
- Able to pass a qualifying examination to demonstrate typing efficiency
Work Environment
- Must be able to work varying hours including weekends and rotating holiday.
- Exposure to biohazardous products, chemicals and body fluids. May be exposed to unpleasant odors and adverse weather. May have to ambulate donor in cases of adverse reaction.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and be able to demonstrate a full range of motion for bending, stooping and lifting.
- The regular work week shall consist of forty (40) hours, five (5) days of eight (8) hours each, unless otherwise mutually agreed by management and the affected employees.
