Early Intervention Evaluator
We are hiring an Early Intervention Evaluator to conduct the Battelle Developmental Inventory (BDI3) with children birth to 4 years old; this is with children who have been referred for services through TEIS and those who are already receiving services with TEIS. The Early Intervention Evaluator will work in collaboration with the Tennessee Early Intervention System, point of entry offices.
Applicants must be willing to travel frequently within the multi-county service area and occasionally to Chattanooga and Knoxville for staff meetings and trainings.
Evaluators will be based out of a home office environment within the service area. This position covers primarily Sevier, Knox, Jefferson, and surrounding counties* and the applicant must live within the service area.*
Qualification:
- Must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child, and family studies (child development), early intervention, or related field.
- Experience assessing and working with young children in the birth to 4 range is preferred.
- Experience working in the field of early intervention is preferred.
- Experience working with families of young children in the home setting.
- This position works remotely, and travels frequently throughout their designated service area within the Eastern region of TN. The applicant must have a valid driver’s license. Regular use of a personal vehicle and maintenance of personal auto insurance in accordance with TN state law is required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct services to children, their families, and their caregivers by conducting timely BDI3 evaluations, to include hearing and vision screenings, of children and families in accordance with Part C of IDEA and federal and state regulations and complete TEIS intake procedures within 14 working days of referrals/notification from TEIS.
- Contact parent or caregiver to schedule evaluation and intake within two working days from notification/referral for TEIS.
- Attempt to contact the family two times, at various times of the day, on two different days documenting all contacts in the State Park C data system. If unsuccessful, notify the TEIS point of entry office. All attempts must be documented in the contact log within the child’s electronic record.
- Enter evaluation data into the BDI3 data system and generate the BDI3 Score Report. Enter evaluation and intake information in the State Part C data system to include the completion of the evaluation page (vision, hearing, motor, cognitive, communication, self-help, and social/emotional sections).
- Send all intake and evaluation documents to the TEIS POE within 5 working days of completing the evaluation.
- Attend initial Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings in person or by report to support the development of the child’s educational plan, participating as the professional who administered the developmental evaluation for eligibility.
- All actions must be documented in the contact log within the child’s electronic record in the State Part C data system.
