Echocardiographer performs Diagnostic Cardiac ultrasound procedures on patients in the Department of Cardiology / Echocardiography. Must demonstrate and document technical competence in the performance of those types of echocardiographic examinations performed in the Department. Echocardiographer must maintain his or her skills through participation in appropriate continuing education.

You Will Be Responsible For :

• Excellent Communication : Well versed in medical terminology and can explain the purpose of the echocardiographic examination to the patient and answering patient’s questions. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers, including other sonographers, physicians, and nurses.
• Technical Familiarity: Proficiency in the performance of two-dimensional, M-Mode, and Doppler (pulsed, Continuous, and color). Documents all abnormal echocardiographic and Doppler velocities accurately and creates preliminary reports for the interpreting physicians review.
• High Attention to Detail: Demonstrate effective use of Pac’s system by troubleshooting technical errors.
• Active Teamwork : Interact in a positive manner with colleagues and creating a collaborative work environment. Initiate open communication, conveys positive intent and offer assistance.

Requirements :

• Education : Graduate of an approved cardiac Ultrasound technology program, with credentialing from an ICAEL and ASE recognized Program, such as ARDMS or CCI.
• Licensure : Licensed by an organization recognized by ICAEL and ASE.
• Skills : Working knowledge of pertinent equipment, scanning techniques, patient care, and evaluating patient status and emergency situations. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department’s computerized system and its associated devices.
